En la actualidad colabora con diversas revistas colombianas tales como Gato Pardo , en donde publicó las impresiones de su viaje a EE.UU. o la revista Rolling Stone , donde ya ha publicado algunos artículos de opinión en una sección que titula MI NOMBRE ES NADIE. La cadena de televisión rctv de Venezuela, en el mes de octubre conversaron vía telefónica con Jorge y él les dijo su opinión sobre “El Cachaco y la Costeña”:“Estoy enamorado de esta novela porque es mágica. Interpreto a Antonio, un hombre frío y distante que cuando llega a la costa se encuentra consigo mismo y con la mujer que cambiará su vida”.

La cadena televisiva le dijo a Jorge que ahora su responsabilidad con la nueva novela es mayor, ya que todo el mundo está pendiente de su trabajo por haber sido el protagonista de Betty, a lo que Jorge les responde: “Sí, es cierto. De alguna manera soy como el líder de grupo, y en mí recae la responsabilidad de poder unir al equipo y tratar de hacer lo mejor para poder construir un trabajo profesional, serio y agradable”. Los encargados del Cachaco y la Costeña le propusieron a Jorge hacer el papel de Antonio Andrade hace dos años, él estaba muy agradecido porque con esta interpretación le permitiría generar un cambio más sereno y más profundo respecto al Armando de Betty. Rctv le pide a Jorge Enrique que les hable de Antonio, y esta fue la respuesta de él: “Antonio es un hombre de valores muy fuertes a diferencia de Armando, porque es supremamente honesto, nunca en su vida ha mentido. Es un hombre de una sola mujer, estricto con el tiempo, el trabajo, la forma de hacer las cosas e incluso consigo mismo”. La cadena de televisión le dice que si es un romantico empedernido, a lo que Jorge responde: “Demasiado romántico. En nuestra novela suceden cosas supremamente interesantes y lindas. Cuando dos seres humanos se encuentran en la vida, son dos mundos los que se encuentran y que para unirse tienen que pasar por muchas cosas y echar todo este cuento es una delicia”. La Costeña y el Cachaco ha logrado índices muy altos de sintonía en Colombia y Venezuela, por eso la cadena rctv para terminar le pide a Jorge que les cuente lo que más le gusta de la historia y de su personaje, a lo que Jorge les dice: “Ante todo, de la novela como tal, me encanta la reconstrucción de las tradiciones culturales que ha hecho la escritora Mónica Agudelo…” “La mirada sobre el mundo con respecto al trabajo, a la vida, al amor, a la muerte, al peligro que son diferentes en cada cultura y cuando dos culturas, con diferencias tan amplias, se encuentran, es muy posible que choquen, que no se entiendan y lo que sucede acá es ver cómo esas dos culturas no sólo se encuentran sino que chocan y se conquistan.”

El pasado 16 de enero de 2004, Jorge Enrique Abello estuvo en el programa Radiocity, donde le hicieron una entrevista, contó cosas de su vida privada pero sobre todo nos mostró una parte suya que muchos no conocíamos, y es, su gran sentido del humor
