El Patron (Alberto del Rio) did a media tour yesterday in Mexico City promoting Triplemania XXII and he confirmed the story of how he got fired from WWE but didn’t want to go into more detail until the time was right. He said that he is banned from wrestling in the United States for a year as part of his release and that since he got fired for assaulting an employee he won’t be getting his severance pay. He said that he is living in San Antonio now which is close to his cousins and that he will be based out of there for the time being as he works in Mexico. He said that he was trying his best to wrestle on TM tomorrow but he found out he couldn’t and will just be at the show to speak to the fans. I would not be surprised if he got involved in some form or fashion and also wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up being a rudo before the night is over but that’s just me.

Latest On Alberto Del Rio’s No-Compete Clause & Where He and Rey Mysterio Stand With AAA

F4WOnline.com (via WrestleZone) reports that WWE was able to lock Alberto Del Rio into a longer no-compete clause (10-11 months) due to him potentially breaching his WWE contract due to the backstage altercation he was involved in that led to his release. The no-compete clause will prohibit Del Rio from wrestling in the U.S. for about a year.
Regarding Mexico, he should be able to begin wrestling there once the standard 90-day no-compete clause expires. Del Rio will not be wrestling the TripleMania XXI show on Sunday in Mexico due to the no-compete clause.
AAA is also being careful with Rey Mysterio. They don’t want to take any chances with tampering with his WWE contract and facing a lawsuit from WWE.

Sheamus was asked about Alberto Del Rio being fired, and replied that the term “released” was better. He said that he didn’t know anything about it, and that he’s gone to war with Del Rio many times in the ring and that he’s always been a favorite opponent of his.

While AAA may be taking chances by having Alberto Del Rio appear for them, they are making it clear that they do not want a lawsuit from WWE for tampering with Rey Mysterio’s contract. With that said, Mysterio is likely talking to AAA’s Konnan all the time as they are good friends.
AAA officials were originally under the impression that Del Rio would be able to wrestle for them at TripleMania on Sunday but WWE informed them he couldn’t. WWE originally wanted to lock Del Rio up in a 10 or 11 month non-compete in the United States and obviously were successful as it was reported yesterday that Del Rio can’t wrestle in the US for one year, possibly because he was found to breach of his deal.

As we noted last night here on PWInsider.com, the Canadian broadcast of Smackdown featured Alberto Del Rio vs. Roman Reigns as opposed to the Miz vs. Reigns bout that was the actual main event segment of the episode.
I was told that the wrong segment aired due to human error at Sportsnet 360. As it was explained to me, Smackdown is sent to the network in segments and assembled by someone working in their master control.
Since there are numerous episodes sitting on their server, someone pulled the wrong segment for the main event. The error was corrected on replays of the episode.

We heard from a number of readers last night and this morning that on the Canadian broadcast of WWE Smackdown on SportsNet360, the final match that aired was Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio from last week (which did not air due to being preempted for a tennis broadcast) as opposed to the scheduled Reigns vs. The Miz main event.
As to why this aired, your guess is as good as mine.

Alberto Del Rio did media in Mexico today and noted that he cannot wrestle in the United States for one year. He also admitted there was a backstage incident with him and a WWE employee but did not go into details.
Del Rio not being able to wrestle in the US for one year could be a sign that he was found to be in breach of his WWE contract. When WWE talents are found in breach of their deal, they are informed that they will no longer be paid additional revenue due to them past the day of that breach. Also, talents found in breach cannot compete in wrestling or MMA for one year.

That would likely mean he was found to be in breach of his WWE contract. When a WWE talent is found in breach, they are informed that they will no longer be paid additional revenue due to them past the day of the breach (including royalties due for PPV, licensing, etc.) and that as a penalty of the breach, they cannot compete in pro wrestling or MMA for a period of one year.
PWInsider.com has reached out to WWE regarding the circumstances of Del Rio’s departure and his advertised appearance for AAA in Mexico this weekend, but given that it’s Summerslam weekend, it’s not likely we will hear back immediately.

Del Rio said he would no longer be using that name because WWE owns it. His new ring name is El Patron. He would not talk about his WWE departure due to legal reasons but said he would in a few weeks.
Del Rio acknowledged he can’t wrestle in AAA for 90 days but his lawyers are working on making it to where he can wrestle at TripleMania on Sunday. Del Rio has challenged El Texano Jr. for the AAA Mega Heavyweight Title.
Del Rio was asked about Rey Mysterio and said he doesn’t know Rey’s situation. Roldan said Rey is under contract to WWE and as long as that’s the case, AAA cannot talk to him. He added that AAA would be open to bringing Rey in when his WWE deal expires.

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter Alberto Del Rio’s brother Guillermo Rodriguez, who had a brief run in WWE developmental a few years ago, said this past week that he and Del Rio will be teaming up in trios matches with their father Dos Caras very soon.
Guillermo, who worked in WWE developmental as Memo Montenegro but was cut back in July 2013, now works in Mexico as El Hijo de Dos Caras.

Alberto del Rio and AAA President Joaquin Roldan held a press conference today in Mexico City with Hugo Savinovich being the host.
ADR said that AAA is his new home where he plans on staying for the immediate future. ADR did say that he would no longer use that name in particular saying that WWE owns the trademark to that name and that he will now use “El Patron” which was used as a nickname by Ricardo Rodriguez during his ring introductions in the past and on the Spanish commentary.
El Patron said that he won’t be able to wrestle in AAA for the at least 90 days but he is trying his best to get his lawyers to get an injunction to allow him to wrestle at Triplemania XXII on Sunday, which of course is to get heat on WWE for not letting him work.
El Patron said that when he is able to compete in AAA that he wants to face whoever is the AAA Mega Heavyweight Champion and called out Hijo del Texano specifically so it looks like he will be a tecnico.
El Patron was asked about the details regarding his firing by WWE and he said that he couldn’t talk about it due to legal issues but said that he would talk about it more in a couple of weeks.
El Patron was also asked about the rumors of Rey Misterio Jr. being unhappy in WWE and wanting to return to AAA and he said that he doesn’t really know about that situation which is where Joaquin Roldan stepped in and said that Misterio is still under contract with WWE and as long as that is the case then AAA will not tamper with him but if something would happen down the road then he would be open to him returning to promotion.
